Natural History Museum Shenzhen - Evolution 1

Natural History Museum Shenzhen

Location Shenzhen, China
Role Lead Designer / Technical Lead
Type Museum Exhibition
Size 17.000 m2
Year 2026

The Shenzhen Natural History Museum (NHM Shenzhen) is the first large-scale natural history museum in Southern China and a landmark cultural destination in one of the world's fastest-growing cities. The museum invites visitors to explore the history of our planet through immersive, technology-driven experiences. Atelier Brückner designed four of the eight main galleries: Cosmos Hall, Earth Hall, Evolution Hall, and Dinosaur Hall, as well as the associated public and education areas. With a height of 21 metres, Dinosaur Hall forms the largest of the four galleries and the dramaturgical climax of the exhibition.

Initially I contributed to the competition design that secured the commission for the museum and remained involved throughout the project as one of the lead designers. Later in the project, I took on the role of technical lead, overseeing the development and realisation of the exhibition's many technologically complex installations.
